PowderLine camp
Long-term warm weather across Europe has completely erased our last ideas of snow and dreams about turns in fresh snow. On the other hand mountains are unpredictable in this was and as a result of that you can find out what we could do in the gallery. The core of success was to find a deep pow :-) or at least an area which does not resemble an icy mountain. That we were able miraculously managed in Zillertahl Arena at the top of Ubergangsjoch 2500 m. n. m. A Little play ground that gave us for the first two days of camp a perfect place to practice before the snowstorm came. After the first run we split into groups according to skills and experience of riding in free terrain. I might say that we were pleasantly surprised by the level of all campers. Thanks to their riding level was could move a far further from ridden tracks near slope to untouched pow. In my group I started with avalanche training while David and his group started to ride coz his group had a previous experience with the pips. At the end of the day we had a presentation where avalanche issues were described.
The next day we spent at the same spot coz information from other parts of the valley were not really convincing. That day continued without any problems and thanks to the lighting conditions and terrain knowledge from previous day, a lot of amount of photo materials were created. The third day of the camp was in the name of snow storm. With zero visibility, we had to stick in the woods on the icy surface. That day was also less demanding on power and more relaxed. After a few runs we tried to work with peeps and ended that day in a pub. Slava wanted to support this coming snow fall with his 80% of Strohm, but it was above our limits. The fourth day was a break event point from the perspectives of snow conditions and experiences. Despite the weather forecast the upper part of the mountain offered us a veritable paradise. New snow hid hidden rocks, which mainly came across Filips with his broken board and a Roman with his five stitches on the right thigh.
We also gave taught time to technology. We managed to destroy two bindings which did not stand up the rush of adrenaline. Our last day at the resort was not really lucky in the way of weather visibility. We choose a resort which was under the cloud at all day. A group headed by Filip Paseka was a little more lucky thanks to a couple of azuro hours and managed to have some runs on the other side of the resort. We also had an interesting day on the slopes between the pins, which were pretty narrow placed.
Finally, I would like to thank to all participants of PWL camp. For their hard work, cooperation and fun we had. Just perfect people met at the right place at the right time on the first Powderline camp. Also thanks to sponsors Dynastar, RedBull and HonkyTonk. Without their support this action would not be possible to plan.
