Spring at Mölltaler glacier
After three weeks of "welding" in front of LCD in the office we were starting to have a withdrawal symptoms. Such "powder" abstinence is a terrible disease. So we immediately began to think with my brother where we will go to chase a powder. After several days of surfing the sites with the weather, the decision was made on the Austrian glacier Mölltal. Given that this year's winter was held in style of North-Western "powder" front, so this was not an exception. This storm which should come was forecated to slightly touch the Mölltal and therefore should be the whole weekend of bluebird sky.
Well, all the way was not clear that we will spend a blue sky powder weekend. Total cloudbursts followed us almost to Villach. As soon as we entered the mountains, as if the heavens opened and the rain clouds are gone. Another bonus was that we had a local ski bum Kastan or Kastanek at place. Guy who returns to our Czecj Republic in winter very rarely and dedicated his life to the mountains. Anyway, would probably not want me to have something extra expanded upon. Do not take that in any case thanks a lot for a luxury ride and for showing a Mölltal to us. And you, sometimes when you go to Mölltal in freeride and see someone go straight from top to bottom be sure, that Kastan is flying down the mountain.
The biggest surprise was our second riding day. A strong winds and heavy snowfall were reported. Instead of snow it was blowing like hell and all the snow was taken away from the Grossglockner straight to us into the couloirs around the glacier. And that was not enough, you can see in galery that we even managed to shoot some pictures at those powder orgies. No so many photos, but I hope it's understandable. Before we changed our minds that we will shoot, it was afternoon. Fortunately there is enough powder lines for everyone, so we searched until we found it.
