Ymli DUG
fast is just not enough fast
Jirka Zelinka:
When I have received Ymli Dug to my hands for the first time, I immediately knew that those skis are not just ordinary once. Their flat side cut was saying that this is going to be a ski for big lines in big mountains. For riders who love to ride fast and hit nice cliffs. Ymli DUG skis are made from the combination of beech and poplar, steel edges and thicker ABS sidewall. Sidewall is made from very flexible material so it is resistant against hits and ski defection. The topsheet is made from matte material which is also resistant against scratches.
I have had a possibility to test the skis in three resorts. I was at Pustevny in the Czech Republic, Vratna in the Slovakia and Mölltal glacier in the Austria. As you can see I had a chance to test and compare the qualities on many terrains. For the first time it was on Pustevny. There was about 40cm of fresh powder. Skis were floating and thanks to the rocker on the tip the snow was going around the ski. Well in the deep sections I sank the skis a bit under the snow. Skis keep track in the higher speed. One thing which was a bit worse was the spiral graining of the skis. Due to a big radius you need strong legs and experienced rider to ride the skis in the forest.
The second trip I took the skis with me was good old Vratna Dolina in Slovakia. We had a deep powder day again so good time for testing. Here I figured out the purpose the skis were made for. It was a pleasure to ride the top open parts of Vratna. Fast lines, deep powder and Dugs were nicely keeping the track and holding me on the top of the snow. Nice surprise was cliff at the bottom. No shaking after landing the cliff. So well done second time.
The last trip where I took the skis was the Austian glacier Mölltal. And what a surprise again. We received about 40cm of fresh powder in combination with bluebird sky. I can clearly say that this is the place for which the skis were made for. Big, long, fast lines in combination with cliff dropping. If I compared the Dug skis with CoreUpt Slasher I would say that Dugs skis are more stable and better for cliff dropping. What I would like to highlight here is that sometimes it good to have a ‘balls’ for the speed you can make on Dug skis. Where other skis are crying the Dugs are just starting to ride.

My only skis for 2nd season now... Freeride allround! Woods, piste, big mountain... Not knowing "water" skis like Armada ARG etc., it would be quite perfect tool! Super deep powder is for me really the only unperfection about these skis. Consider the big radius, it`s aimed for experienced skier and fast ride. Surprisingly stiff and stable even in the shorter version. Very good skis which last too!
