So for the next interview I have invited Jaromír Lojza alias Kumestrol. This freerider, editor, organizer and newly a proud father has appeared on the czech freeride scene before many years. He has given to this sport a lot of passion, time and soul. But he has written to freeriders mind by organizing the first czech freeride competition Czech Big Mountain Open in Davos. But lets go for a talk.

Hi Kum, I will begin with some light questions. Are you from Prague? Could you tell us, how you got to the freeride?

I am not originaly from Prague but I live in Prague and this is different. But maybe it does not matter, I do not feel to be prom Prague. I am from Slezsko (part of CZ), like you and whole freeride crew from there. My family roots are in Osoblaha and Ostrava.

And how I got to the freeriding? Maybe as the rest of the oldschloolers. Like Gazman said: „Lets ride the trees“. And now it is called freeriding. Every time I wanted to ride the trees, under the lift ropes and once upon the time I went to Chopok (SK) and after the first run through the couloir I decided to ride. I bought Fisher Big Stix 84 and began.

What are your favorite spots to ride on.

To the mountains, but sometimes we are riding a night powder in the middle of Prague on Petrin. Anyway I got amazed by Swiss. I love whole Switzerland. Last year I have also been to  famous St. Anton (AT) and of course I could forgot  tons of powder in Dragobrat in the Ukraine.

If you wanted a tip from me, I would recommend the whole swiss Valis and Belalp. And skiing with the view at the Matterhorn has its magis as well.

Your editors work is realy strongly connected with website freeskiing.cz. Who or what brought You there?

Me and my desire to write about freeskiing and show this sport to every czech doder. But a few people know that I was cooperating with Matio (webmaster of freeskiing.cz) on like a „good word“ for two years without even see each other. We have called to each other after one year and then we went to Stodolni in Ostrava and got drunk. So you can imagine that freeskiing.cz is like a family for me.

But the first impuls i got from Honza Schauer (we was looking at some powder skis on Sport Prague ). I respect his as a big pioneer and freerider. Actually he was the first freeskiing webmaster as a owner of  freeskiing.kgb.cz.

Many people maybe do not know that you are the main organizer of the Czech Big Mountain Open. How have you got to the event like this?

My opinion is, that people are naturaly competitive and tales about life style and being cool do not take me away from the people who want to compete and got know each other by this very specific way. So me, Petr Socha and Honza Karnik, have decided to create a czech race and we hope that people will like it. When I have a look how competition like this looks like, I took the impression that a small Czech man can do such a thing, too, and came SCOTT Czech Ride. I hate, but the big ad - because without the support of the sponsor such a great race away from home could never arise. Yet they are such enthusiasts cavort like us.

It is not such easy to organize an event like Czech Big Mountain Open is. Could you briefly tell us which difficulties this organizing brings to you?

It is not easy, as you said, but you would manage it as well. Sometines it is fun as well. Worries and fun. The biggest worries I got during every run, when I wait on the news that the rider is safe and is at the finish. Safety is realy inportant and I think we are able to secure riders by the right way. During next competition every rider will have special insurance.
We have great concern with Peter prior to their first year when we announced the race. We have solved, how many people will sign up. We started at 100, then we say that 50 is ok, but when 30 people sign up, it will be super relaxed event. When after several days appeared in the database of over 150 applications to participate, we went to pub! Of concern has become the joy that went in charge - how to do it, so that everyone is happy.

It also confirmed to me one more pleasure and opportunity to meet people from all over the world and help some riders in their progress. Thus I need to met with President FWT, Phil Meier, Seb Michaud, Lucas Swiekowski, excellent Italian Chris Garufi from Mystic freeride and more and more. Just comfort. I believe the only way I travel with so many interesting people in such a short period of time meet. And the joy you brought race? You tell me?

Could not miss that Czech Big Mountain Open has appeared on the Freeride Word Tour official website. How it has happend that race got to the FWTQ?

Why not lift it up?! Journey to the tour is simple - quality, popularity. That's the whole recipe. You can be the drivers that we tour. Your feedback, which had reached the top management allow us to have two years to obtain the status Freeride World Qualifier. . I promise more from the promotion of Czech freeskiing and more interesting composition of competitors and new friends. But otherwise it was a long week of communication, negotiation, etc. - just comfort.

So go away from the work. What was your longest way for the powder?

I do not know. I think Romania or Norway. Maybe like that. But it was a punk session in Romania. Do you remember? And Norway was a nice Christmas gift. But I would like to go to Russia or India.

Yeah man, I cannot forget on Romania. Who was not there, would not understand. And how you are managig all these stuff. Like family, job…. Is it even possible?

Definitely is is not possible. I it has to be somehow done. It was telling to myself, that I would rest for a while. But this do not let you. So we fortunately can go further. You are working as well, dont you?

The love for the mountains is not only during the winter. Are you going there in the summer as well?

Yes of course. When I got time, I love to visit Snezka. But this year they will close our favorite place there so we decided do visit Mt. Blanc.

So, at the end I would like to congratulate on behalf of our editors for your new family member. And I would like ask you. How feels father? Will you have a freeride foster?

It is a great feeling. I am looping forward for things which will come to us. And if my son will be a freerider? I do no not, I am affraid of him, but he is a fighter. So we will see. (Skies are of course prepared).

So thank you very much for interview buddy and I wish you health for family.

Thank you for your patience. Bye.
