Snowkiting Norway
endless powder turns
Snowkiting is becoming more and more wellknown sport. Endless powder turns, high speed on snowboard or skis or just a flying like a bird. This is making snowkiting an attractive sport. We have a tip for you how to enjoy snowkite in Norway or even to begin with the snowiting. So check it out!
It has been the 3rd time you could have a trip with Kiteseason to Norway. Again for the same world class kite spot Hardangervidda (1.200 above the sea). This place has enormous kikilometers where to ride with the kite. This place is quite famous for many snowkiters all over the world. As is saying local PRO kiter Bjørn Kaupang „I have a heaven behind my house. Why to travel?".
The probability of the wind is almost 100%. Wind is almost always going from the sea coast. There all possible directions of the wind. So there is now way you cannot find your own wind direction to ride on. Honestly probably the opposite. Sometimes there is so strong wind that only good riders can ride. Hardangervidda is the only maintained connection between Oslo and Bergen. So you will have plenty cpace to ride on.
Snowkiting is supported in a maximum way here. But every kiter must follow some basic rules. Every morning there are couplme of snow cats going to maintain the road towards Harda. It is almost 80kms long. They are also maintaining local parking places for the snowkiters. But when it is a bad wether or the snow storm you have to follow the snowcats and the road is closed for personal use.
Very good snow conditions are in the kite spot since the December until May. The high powder season is there around January and February and the end of the March when is the biggest snowfall. Well the conditions may differ decepnce on the wind. Sometimes it is powder heaven but we also had a tough conditions with a hard snow. But when it is a powder you can make even 50km trips with the kite.
