Fredrik Ericsson and Trey Cook
Insert: 30.06.2010
The alpinist and freerider Fredrik Ericsson is continuing with his second attempt to climb and ski the K2. During his first attempt there happend a disaster and Fredrik´s partner Michele Fait died. They will not use additional oxygen during climbing. The second hard thing will be that they will carry his ski equipment. Also they will climg in the skialp boots, not with ordinary climbing footware. The 26th of June 2010 Fredrik and his parter, american alpine journalist, Trey Cook left their first camp under the K2 in the 5900m. The are moving to the next camp and they plan to use Cesen Route. This route to K2 is more difficult then the classic route Abruzzi. This Cesen Route was discovered by Doug Scott and slovenian climber Tomo Cesen. Cesen climbed the ridge to 8100m.
Freeriders are planning to climb and build a small camp in 8000m and take the top from there. It should take about 12hours of climbing. The whole way down, skiing of course, should take about 5 hours. The whole expedition will take aproximately 2 moths.
