It’s more than a month since the in Switzerland, Davos held the 3 annual event SNOWfest. This innovative event provides a unique opportunity for people with the same interest which is riding in open terrain - freeriding. And so once again there were people of all ages and experiences to deepen their knowledge or just to start up their first steps toward to freeriding. Our editors group did it in own way again. Booked private house in the suburb of Davos and thus stayed relaxed and comfortable exactly, how we used to.

I do not know how it is possible, but like the last year we arrived in Davos and the snow conditions are crazy. Temperature around 10 ° C gives the snow pack hard time. Even If we watched the snow report in advance we wouldn’t expect as bad conditions as it were. But they also full fill our darkest thoughts. Upon arrival, we meet the gang at the Hotel Montana, where participants of this event are accomodated. The sun is shining, birds singing and mud all around, simply terrible. Nevertheless it’s still not 1300 meters of altitude on the hill, right. Went to accommodate and sleep with hoping the best but expecting the whorse.

Next morning, getting up early and hurry up on the hill. In the meantime we picked up DEMO skies from Paul Mejsnar (company representative, Scott). The choice fell on Parsenn, as usual the first day in Davos. Conditions are terrible, but not tragic. Northern and northwestern faces are ride able without problems. Unfortunately, from all southern faces there were fallen avalanches which immediately give us a warning. Riding all what we can, hit a couple of drops and cliffs especially in till afternoon, after that time everything was melting much faster.

It is Tuesday, and we again getting up into a beautiful day in the mountains. Experiencing Parsenn again, because other resorts are at lower lever and therefore we do not want to temp any undisclosed snow conditions. Meeting at the parking lot of Montana but today, we had interesting compositions. David Egydy returned from Whistler, Canada, so he joined our group then the rest of our group is consisted of Knybel Martin, Martin Klika, Tomas Zelinka, me and Igor. Bad snow condition with disconsolate passion for powder abstinence gave us a whole different point of a view in choosing the right terrain. Occasionally we hit some chutes which are on the edge of practicability. Around noon time we thought that we could just take a look on the part of the resort pointing to Klosters which is notorious Gotchna. After finding that there are fallen avalanches right under the lift we made a fateful decision which was to go down along surrounding woods and gutters headed to Klosters. Even if it was Northwest mountain faces an avalanche accident has happened, which immediately affected our visit in Davos this year.
