Pogo in Sport Gastein
Insert: 24.02.2010
When we arrived this time to Austrian Salzburgerlad, we got a plan to ride in the Sport Gastein, we failed badly.
Upon arrival, we were absolutely disappointed. The strong wind and close resort waited for us. So we changed our plans and then roll direction to Rauris.
Fortunately, we own, as each year, season skipasses for the whole area. Coming to Rauris and see what we did not understand. Almost no snow and a number of people in the lift queue was the
worse than in the blackest nightmare. We stand in line and wait and wait. After endless waiting, we went at the hill and again whipped. ICE ICE ICE. We did a couple of runs on the slopes and went away. No powder no fun.
After a longer anabasis with accommodation we finally found apartement in Piesendorf and the promise of snow gave a bit of hope to us.
Fortunately for us forecast did not lie. Woke up in the morning was to the mist, the snow charmed us. Therefore we go into the valley Saalbach-Hinterglemm. This valley is famous for higher precipitation amount and it was so. Neither fog discourage us, and we did first powder turns. Nothing less all the snow was on the ice and so we cut several couloirs and the last rider was riding only on ice. We had cool research slony the resort and sometimes even good powder turns. We have easily guessed what awaits us the next day.
The third day was amazing. Full blue Austrian sky was waiting for us. So we headed to Sport Gastein. The choice was truly excellent and what we already had that day was just powder from the realm of dreams. Each of us was eating tons of powder snow and droping as she could. Unreal powder pillows, which you can ride there in a few variations. As relatively high about 3m, and smaller and infinite sets in a row. Many riders from different parts of Europe gave us the idea that we were not there accidentally. But the end of the talk and look at the GALLERY. A important note. As with us, there was no photographer, I borrowed equipment from my brother and we were taking pictures with Martin Knybel. The result can be assessed.
