Someone up and freeriders down

Hey buddy lets drop in - Solisko, SK

High Tatras

We visited our Slovak second home several times this season. In this report I`m gonna describe 2 lines. From our grandmas house it`s 20min drive to Tatranska Lomnica. Some say they are the smallest  high mountains in the world. There are 2 resorts. Strbske pleso, not much good in the resort and way better Tatranska Lomnica. Besides that a lot of hiking possibilities.

Tatranská Lomnica, Lomnický štít

It was a beautifull Easter Sunday. Our plans changed after morning skiing. Lomnický štít looked very tasty so we made a quick decision to give it a try. We made it to the top, but an ice axe would have been usefull. There is a unique restaurant and a meteo station on the top of that mountain! And a famous gondola just for skiless tourists. We are the weirdos climbing up with skis… A lot of wtf looks… After a nice break in the pub we got up for a descend followed by a bunch of bloodseekers. We skied the south face, top has a quite short part with a 50 degrees and it is classified as a S4, E2+. It was really good…

Strbske pleso, Solisko

We got a tip from a locals for a couloir from the Solisko ridge to the east. There is a lot of couloirs but one really atractive and with a short access… It`s quite a labyrinth!
